Some powerful capabilities like tear simulation have been tightened.
Elden Ring is a huge game by all means. It may take over 100 hours to fully complete, but for those who are somehow exhausted with all their dungeons and bosses, there is much more to do now. In the latest piece, FromSoftware added quests for certain non-player characters (NPCs): Diallos, Nepheli Loux, Kenneth Haight, and Gatekeeper Gostoc.
Tracking the location of NPCs will also be easier thanks to new map markers that allow you to include their names. So if you want to remember where to find a particular business, you probably don’t need to specify their location in a notebook. There’s also a new NPC called Jar Bairn, while the developers “added some summons NPCs in various situations,” according to the patch notes.
The update also brings a number of balance changes. One of them is to reduce the effect of Calling the Imitation of Tears. This allows the player to create an AI-controlled spirit with the same load out as the player, which is great for boss fights.
At the same time, FromSoft has reduced the damage that Hoarfrost’s Stomp Ash of War has dealt and increased the time it takes to cast the charm. Speedrunners have been relying on this skill to get through the Elden Ring in less than 30 minutes, so they may need to come up with some new strategies – unless they play offline and decide not to update the game.
To counteract these changes and some other nerves, many skills now have lower CS (Focus Points) costs, so you can use them more often. Forgestones are easier to find and shields are more effective. Statistics grading problems should be solved with some weapons with some bug fixes. Publisher Bandai Namco says there are some performance improvements as well.
