Hogwarts Legacy is coming to PC, Switch, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles at Holiday 2022. Announced at the end of 2020, Hogwarts Legacy was originally due to launch in 2021, but was pushed back to 2022 later. The “vacation” time frame is one step closer to the actual release date.
That’s not it – during today’s State of Play live stream dedicated to the open-world RPG, WB Games Avalanche released a trailer that gives the first real look at how the goof looks and plays .
Hogwarts Legacy is a derivative of the Harry Potter universe, but takes place long before the events of the books. Set in the 1800s, the story lets players learn enchantments, brew drinks, grow enchanting plants, tame monsters, and receive fifth-grade lessons at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Players have the unique ability to manipulate ancient magic, so they hold the key to saving the wizarding world from the forces of darkness.
As familiar as it sounds, this is a game full of original stories, and Harry Potter author JK Rowling (who must be named) was not directly involved in her development. Hogwarts Legacy features fresh teachers, students, villains, mentors and creatures, as well as some familiar spirits. Players will be able to fly on a sweepstakes, make friends who will join them on quests, and upgrade their abilities depending on how they like to play. Hogwarts is not all covered – Hogsmeade stores are also available for inspection.
